The Body Balance Centre Method is a unique physical fitness regime that stresses strength, flexibility, posture and coordination through implementation of a set of principles and corrective exercises. Unlike traditional weightlifting, muscle strength is gained without the addition of bulk, making it an ideal companion fitness program for a wide range of sports and activities where flexibility is important. The Body Balance Method itself is an evolution of the teachings of Joseph Pilates. As a nurse during World War I, Pilates (pronounced puh - LAH - tees) created a series of physical fitness and breathing control exercises to help rehabilitate injured soldiers. He combined principles learned from the study of yoga, Zen meditation and the exercise regimens of the ancient Greeks and Romans with the result being a revolutionary form of therapy.

Exercise in a Private, Restful Setting

As a small, private studio near Ala Moana Beach in Honolulu, the Body Balance Centre provides an intimate and highly professional setting in which to learn and pratice the Body Balance Centre Method and/or the Gyrotonic® Expansion System. We teach Pilates in small, intimate classes and also provide a number of services that are conducive to a healthy lifestyle such as massage therapy, Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, nutritional consultation and acupuncture.
